About Me

A lifelong reader and writer, Andrea (Berns) Vande Vorde graduated from Loras College in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing. Realizing she had a thirst to learn more about books and language, she pursued a master’s degree in English Studies at Illinois State University. During this time, she began freelance copy editing in addition to her coursework and quickly found a passion for it. Shortly after her 2018 graduation, she decided to pursue this passion as her career. A member of the EFA (Editorial Freelancers Association) and ACES (American Copy Editors Society), Andrea provides proofreading, line editing, and developmental editing services for independent publishers and authors. Andrea has worked with indie publishers such as the Story Plant, Boutique of Quality Books (BQB) Publishing, and WiDō Publishing, and she looks forward to working more directly with indie authors. While her specialty is fiction, Andrea has experience with a variety of genres, including science fiction, nonfiction, and children's books.When she is not editing, a perfect day for her would involve writing or reading a book with a cup of coffee or tea at her side.
