A lifelong reader and writer, Andrea Berns graduated from Loras College in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing. Realizing she had a thirst to learn more about books and language, she pursued a master’s degree in English Studies at Illinois State University. During this time, she began freelance copy editing in addition to her coursework and quickly found a passion for it. Shortly after her 2018 graduation, she decided to pursue this passion as her career. A member of the EFA (Editorial Freelancers Association) and ACES (American Copy Editors Society), Andrea uses her English Studies master's degree to polish manuscripts to make them the best they can possibly be. When she is not editing, a perfect day for her would involve writing or reading a book with a cup of coffee or tea at her side.
Andrea exceeded our expectations. She met our editing project with integrity and accuracy and developed a framework for the author to build upon. She always adjusted quickly to our changing demands and was articulate and informative in her communication. Andrea is a true creative professional.
